St Nicholas advance to the next round of the National Trophy with a hard earned 2.1 victory over a very good Cappamore side at Danny O Dwyer park on Saturday afternoon.
This was the tie of the round as there had been nothing between both side in previous meetings,
St Nicholas came out of the blocks the fastest and on 5 minutes John Ryan rounded the keeper and thought he had scored only for the Cappamore No 4 to recover and clear it off the line.
St Nicholas were on top in midfield, with Webster, Kinane ,Hennessy,and Donovan on 16 minutes a blocked shot from Rocco Rea fell to Hennessy who's effort just went over the bar,St Nicholas were doing very well with Josh Webster and Dylan Donavan on the wings,on 22 mins John Ryan slipped a lovely through ball to Dylan Donovan who beat the Cappamore keeper with a lovely finish to the bottom corner.
St Nicholas Defence of kelly , Gleeson, Considine , Karacsonyi , were solid and dealt with everything from Cappamore ,just before half time Cappamore had a long range free kick which deceived the St Nicholas keeper Doyle to find it's way to the net.

St Nicholas started the 2nd half well again and made some substitutions and on 42 mins substitute Harry Sheridan played alovely ball to John Ryan who was unlucky not to score ,St Nicholas got the break through on 42minutes a great ball from Kinane to Sheridan who finished cooly to the back of the net. Ronan ,Sullivan,and Downey were excellent when they were introduced. Cappamore had a few chances and right at the death were awarded a penalty ,The number 10 for Cappamore stepped up and his effort crashed off the post and the ref blew the final whistle to send St Nicholas to the next round of the National Trophy.
