St Nicholas U13s were very unlucky to bow out of the National Trophy in a wind swept day away to Adare United,
St Nicholas Started the brigther playing into a gale force wind.
Adare with the wind at their backs were awarded a penalty against the run of play which,
Harry Longford converted from the spot to make it 1.0 to United.
St Nicholas were finding it hard with the wind and found themselves 2 down from a Conor Joyce finish and within 4 minutes St Nicholas
were 3 down goal scored by Tadgh Crowley.

St Nicholas came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and had one goal back within 10 minutes a super through ball by Harry Sheridan found
John Ryan who was 1 on 1 with the keeper and kept his cool to finish to the back of the net.
A few moments later
St Nicholas were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal up stepped Jack O Sullivan with the wind at his back unleashed an absolute rocket
to the back of the net,
With time running out St Nicholas were awarded another free kick on the edge of the area up stepped ,
John Ryan to curl a beauty into the top left hand corner giving the keeper no chance with the final kick of the game.

Extra time started 10 mins each way some super defending from both teams to keep it 3.3, St Nicholas had the better chances in the 2nd half of extra time ,
Charlie Considine was unlucky with a header from a Daniel Gleeson corner which was just over the bar, one final chance fell to Harry Sheridan but Bobby Davies in the
Adare Goal pulled off a great save as time ticked away and as the refs final whistle sounded it was the dreaded penalty shootout, an awful way to end any cup game
but there could only be one winner and unfortunately it was Adare that won the shootout 4,2.
